On May 15th, 2025, the TLAfrica Kenya office had the joy of hosting a dynamic training session for 77 women leaders from the Maasai community in Oltepesi, Kajiado County. These inspiring women—serving as Chairladies, Secretaries, and Treasurers for over 23 self-help groups—came from areas including Otepesi, Emboliei, Ole-kimunke, and Lerujat.
Many of the women are actively involved in small-scale businesses such as bead-making, livestock farming, soap-making, and grocery selling. Their participation was made possible through the strong pastoral networks we’ve built over time, particularly through two previous TLAfrica pastoral trainings held at Dominion Chapel Ministries—this training’s host venue.
A Day of Worship, Wisdom, and Empowerment
The day began with vibrant worship and joyful Maasai praise songs, setting a powerful tone of unity and expectation. Pastor Tom Turere, host of the event, shared a moving devotion on the importance of unity in the Body of Christ. His message encouraged the women to support one another and grow stronger together through their shared faith.
Following the devotion, Pastor Naomi Lemangei—who has been faithfully involved in all of our pastoral trainings in this region—led a practical and motivating session on financial management. She challenged the women to be intentional with their business spending, set clear goals, and cultivate integrity and perseverance in their ventures.
The final session, led by our Kenya Office Project Manager, introduced the women to the vision of the TLAfrica Women Empowerment Program (WEP)—a holistic initiative focused on transformation through training and access to microloans. She also guided the leaders through the loan application process, answering questions and sparking excitement among the group.

A Promising Start
The impact was immediate. Within just two weeks—by May 30th—three groups had already begun the microloan application process. With such a strong and enthusiastic response, we anticipate that many more groups from the region will soon join the WEP program.
We are deeply thankful to God for the open doors in Oltepesi and beyond. As we continue walking alongside these women leaders, our hope is to offer further trainings in financial literacy, project management, and entrepreneurship—and to see these women flourish as they steward their resources and communities for lasting impact.
Together, we are witnessing transformation—one woman, one group, one village at a time.
