TLAfrica’s Vision

A Letter from the Founder & CEO, Dr. Faustin Ntamushobora

Transformational Leadership in Africa (TLAfrica, Inc.) is a Christian non-profit organization founded and incorporated in the USA in 2008 as a 501 (C) (3) organization, registered as a Non-Governmental Organization in Kenya (2009), in Rwanda (2016), and in the Democratic Republic of Congo (2018). TLAfrica work also extends to Uganda and Burundi.

The vision for TLAfrica was conceived during the Rwandan genocide against the Tutsis that killed 800,000 innocent Rwandans in 100 days. I failed to understand how such evil could happen in a country where Christianity was reported to be 82% of the Rwandan population. Later on, I came to understand that the statistics were for church goers and not disciples of Christ, for disciples love; disciples do not kill their neighbours!

From that time I began to think about how African believers could become disciples who love the Lord and one another, and who bring change in their communities. After graduating with my Master’s, God opened doors for ministry that took me to training leaders in Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania and Zambia. I noticed that though churches were growing by the day, there was no trained leadership to watch over those churches. I also noticed that pastors were struggling with lack of means to provide for their families. What could be done? When in fall 2007 I went to Biola University in California, USA, for my doctoral studies, I already knew the purpose of my studies: to learn how to bring holistic transformation in communities in Africa.

CORE VALUES

GODLINESS

We position God at the head of our organization and submit all activities and ourselves to His will.

TRANSFORMATION

We preach the Gospel holistically that it might lead to spiritual, social, and economic change.

EXCELLENCE

We create meaningful programs that will change lives and empower those in need.

INTEGRITY

We act with integrity, openness, honesty and accountability in all we do, recognizing the financial resources which we work are not our own, but have been entrusted to us for use in alleviating the suffering of others.

PARTNERSHIP

We proclaim the value of collaboration and working together in God’s Kingdom, promoting unity, equality, cooperation, and integration among all people and groups.

WE BELIEVE

  • We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God and inerrant in the original writings, and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life.
  • We believe in the present and continuing ministry of sanctification by the Holy Spirit for a life of holiness and service.
  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; those who are saved to the resurrection of life and those who are lost to the resurrection of damnation.
  • We believe in the fall and consequent total moral depravity of humanity, resulting in our exceeding sinfulness and lost state, and necessitating our regeneration by the Holy Spirit.
  • We believe that the Kingdom of God calls people to devote their talents to the service of the hungry, the stranger, the naked, the sick and the prisoners whom Jesus identified as his brothers and sisters.
  • We believe that there is one God, creator of heaven and earth, eternally existent in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, and in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return to power and glory.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ commanded all believers to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world and to disciple people from every nation. The fulfillment of that Great Commission requires that all worldly and personal ambitions be subordinated to a total commitment to “Him who loved us and gave Himself for us.”
