MICRO-LOANS

The women’s empowerment program distributes micro-loans to vulnerable women to start small businesses in their community including growing agriculture goods, selling trade goods, or sewing. These women grow spiritually and economically through the process as they fellowship together and earn a small income to support their families.

WOMEN IN EAST AFRICA

  • 63% live on less than $1.25 a day

  • 31% have electricity in their home

  • 39% have running water in their homes

OUR BELIEFS

MICRO-LOANS

  • Loans are difficult to get in Africa because of poverty

  • TLAfrica offers microloans to women struggling in the DR Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, and Kenya

  • Loans offered are $50-$100 for individual woman or $500-$1000 for groups of women who submit an approved business proposal.

  • Women open a small business in their community

  • TLAfrica ministers to the women during weekly meetings and encourage the women to lift each other up in the Word.

  • Women are required to pay back the loan within six months and the money is forwarded to the next woman.

TAILORING SCHOOL

  • Clothes in East Africa are mostly hand-sewn and tailoring is amongst one of the more profitable businesses a woman can do.

  • TLAfrica has begun a small tailoring school in the heart of Musanze, Rwanda. The room for the school is small and can only teach 5 women at a time. They have 3 sewing machines for the 5 women to share.

  • Each of the women pay 40,000 Rwfr for the 6 month program. Their fees help pay for their instructor.

  • Upon graduation, the women are able to open their own sewing business and earn a small income to support their families
