TLAfrica Congo Hosts Pastoral Training on the New Testament for 46 Pastors

From November 11th to 13th, 2025, TLAfrica Congo held an inspiring three-day Pastoral Leadership Institute (PLI) training on surveying the New Testament. Forty-six pastors from 17 denominations gathered from Goma, Masisi, and Rutshuru territories, despite the Democratic Republic of Congo experiencing over a year of civil unrest. Hosting such a training in the midst of ongoing conflict is a remarkable opportunity for pastors to grow in faith and leadership.

The conference was led by experienced facilitators who previously trained at TLafrica Musanze, including Bishop Alphonse and Pastor Mopipi Godefroid. Participants explored how the New Testament portrays Jesus’ ministry, death, and resurrection within the context of the 1st-century Roman Empire. Key insights included Matthew’s depiction of Jesus as the Messiah fulfilling Old Testament prophecies, Mark’s focus on Him as the powerful Servant and Son of God, and Luke’s emphasis on His universal mission of mercy and inclusion.

Pastors also examined the significance of the 400-year intertestamental period and how cultural, political, and religious developments prepared the world for Christ. They reflected on how the Roman Empire’s Pax Romana, safe roads, and widespread Greek language enabled apostles like Paul to spread the Gospel far and wide.

This training not only strengthened biblical knowledge but also provided spiritual encouragement and resilience for pastors serving in a challenging and conflict-affected region.
