The TLAfrica Kenya office organized a two-day training for pastors in Oltepesi (Tinga) on 12th and 13th June 2025 at Dominion Chapel Oltepesi, hosted by Pastor Tom Turere. The pastors were trained on basic principles of leadership, including the need for godly leadership in Africa, the importance of having a vision, leadership in the Old Testament (cases of Moses and David), Servant leadership after the model of Jesus, and Leadership Development from the Pauline perspec-
tive. The teaching was based on our newly printed manual ‘Introduction to Leadership’ authored by Prof Faustin Ntamushobora, Nehemie Kavutwa, and Jean P. Musavuli.

The key trainer was Rev Amos Otienoh, a friend of TLAfrica, who co-trained with the TLAfrica Vice President, Ivan Chung. A total of 36 pastors attended the training. Some of the pastors came from as far as 20 km from the training venue. About half of the pastors are semi-literate; therefore, the teachings were translated into the Maasai language.

“I have learned that as a leader, I should pass what I have learned on to others to bring up more leaders. I would like to encourage the pastors’ wives to attend these conferences because, as we have been taught, leadership begins at the family level. Our first leadership success is at home. I would love to pass these teachings to other women leaders so that they also grow in ministry.”

“I have learned that our lives, more than our words, are the greatest influences of our leadership. What shall we show people? Wealth? Our titles? Let us give them our lives to emulate. Let us look at our words, conduct as we do the daily chores like taking care of our livestock, as we fetch water, etc. Let us examine our lives.”
