The International Board of Directors (IB) is the highest decision-making body of TLAfrica and owns the organization through a registered trust. Comprising 10 members with diverse expertise from around the world, the selection process is meticulous, emphasizing strategic contributions and potential influence within the TLAfrica community. The roles and responsibilities of the IB encompass general oversight, providing advice and strategic direction, supporting the President in annual planning, designing governance procedures, and ensuring the organization’s succession plan. The IB also conducts internal evaluations, reviews TLAfrica’s progress reports, and assesses the President’s performance.

Additionally, the IB is responsible for legal oversight, including updates to bylaws and overseeing contracts and partnerships. In terms of fundraising and development, the IB engages in networking, identifies prospects, solicits gifts, and advocates for the organization’s fundraising efforts. Fiscal oversight involves reviewing and adopting TLAfrica’s annual budget, monitoring revenue and expenses, and assessing financial management policies. The IB also plays a crucial role in moderating the International General Conference held every 2.5 years, overseeing its organization and selecting speakers. Members serve a two 3-year term, after which they become “Ambassadors of TLAfrica” upon retirement.
