U.S. Director of Development & Communications

JOB DESCRIPTION

The director of communications and development works with the staff in Africa to share and manage all outgoing public communications to supporters and donors of TLAfrica via website, e-newsletters, and social media. This position also conceptualizes and executes all fundraising efforts within the USA, with assistance from the US office manager, chairman of the US Board and bookkeeper.

JOB DUTIES

Communications:

  • Remain in regular communication with the staff in Africa in order to stay current on ministry activities and their needs. This includes Zoom staff meetings every other Thursday morning and emails. Request specific information and media from them for publications.
  • Maintain and update the TLAfrica website on a regular basis. Ensure all updates are run in a timely manner and as needed. Update published information on the website on a monthly basis, add new content, and keep all information as up to date as possible. Manage the TLA Youtube channel and publish videos to the website either via pages or blog posts. Evaluate ways to improve the viewers experience and increase giving through the website.
  • Manage the TLAfrica social media platforms, primarily Instagram and Facebook. Create a social media marketing calendar for regular posting. Share current updates received by the staff in Africa, prayer requests, upcoming events and fundraising goals.
  • Write, create and send a monthly e-newsletter via Mailchimp. Update the Mailchimp email list on a regular basis with new donor emails.
  • Design all marketing materials for TLAfrica publications for web and print.

Development:

  • Collaborate with the US staff in all fundraising efforts. Conceptualize and research new ideas for fundraising. Plan, manage and promote all fundraising efforts. Fundraising may include online peer to peer campaigns, apparel sales, birthday campaigns, in-person dinners and events, virtual live fundraiser events and assisting individual churches in their efforts to raise funds for TLAfrica.
  • Assist with maintenance of the donor management system and current donor information.
  • Assist the C.E.O., Dr. Faustin, with logistics and travel arrangements when he visits the United States.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord, regularly attend an evangelical church, be growing in their relationship with Christ, and have a passion for missions.
  • Must have own computer with a good Internet connection, camera and microphone.
  • Must be able to attend Zoom meetings every other Thursday at 7:30am PST.
  • Have experience and a working knowledge of WordPress and the ability to adapt to new web design templates within WordPress. Knowledge of plugins and proper maintenance and security of plugins. Some basic knowledge of html would be helpful, but not required.
  • Knowledge of Instagram, and Facebook for businesses and nonprofits: how to schedule posts and posting requirements. Finish application for receiving donations through Facebook and Instagram. How to read, analyze and apply the post insights in order to increase viewership for future posts. Knowledge of Later, Hootsuite or another social media management platform.
  • Experience and knowledge with Mailchimp newsletters.
  • Experience with marketing design using Canva and/or Adobe Photoshop/ Illustrator.
  • Additional programs and platforms used: Webmail, Google Docs and Sheets, FundraiseUp, Aplos, InktothePeople,
  • Willingness to conceptualize and investigate new ideas to improve efficiency, and increase donations and the ability to learn new programs quickly.
  • Experience with event planning for large events on a budget is strongly desired, but not required.

Position Type: Part-Time Remote Position

Hours Required: Roughly 30-50 per month

Compensation: $17.00/hr
