We are thrilled to share that the construction of the TLRwanda Conference Center has been completed, and it’s truly been a joyous milestone for us. In October, we had the privilege of celebrating this achievement with over 200 friends, partners, and supporters. We were also honored to welcome key leaders, including the Governor of Rwanda, the Mayor of the Ruhengeri Province, and local media outlets, who toured the property, prayed over the space, and blessed it for God’s Kingdom work that will take place here.

This project has been a testament to God’s provision, and we are incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received. One of the most significant blessings came when we learned that the Rwandan government will assist us with crucial infrastructure needs, including providing power for our additional electrical requirements and paving a new road that will connect the main street to the Conference Center. The current unpaved road, full of rocks and potholes, is difficult to navigate, and the new road will greatly improve access to the center for both our staff and future guests.

As we look ahead, we are excited to move into our new offices by January 2025, which will significantly reduce our overhead costs and free up resources to invest directly into our programs and ministry efforts. However, to begin fully utilizing the facility, we need to furnish the interior and purchase necessary equipment, including office furniture, conference supplies, and machinery.

During this season of year-end giving, we invite you to partner with us to complete the final steps in preparing this space for service. Your donation will directly support the furnishing and equipping of the TLRwanda Conference Center, enabling us to begin hosting guests, conferences, and leadership training as soon as possible.

There are 30 guests rooms in the main building. Each room has 2 twin beds, a study desk, a large armoire and a private bathroom. As you can see in the photos above we have the bed frames and armoires. We still need mattresses, linens, pillows, bath mats, bath towels, and more. 

The ESTIMATED COST for 30 Guest Rooms : $12, 354 USD  (roughly $400 per room)

THE BENEFITS :: With the room fully furnished, we will be able to provide lodging for up to 60 adults who travel to attend our conferences. Currently, we must rent out an entire hotel for our multi-day conferences.  We will also be able to generate income by providing lodging when we rent the space for events and weddings or general guest lodging. 

The building has 1 main conference hall, a room designated to be the library and study room, and 4 smaller classrooms. While we have numerous books donated and in storage, we need shelves and tables for the library. We will also need tables or desks and chairs for the conference hall and the classrooms. Additionally, flip charts, white boards and/or a projector is needed for each of the classrooms, along with some smaller items.

The ESTIMATED COST : $21,000 USD

THE BENEFITS :: Until these furnishings can be provided, we will need to rent tables and chairs for students to be able to attend seminars and conferences. This is increase the cost of hosting conferences. By having our own furnishings, we will be able to host a seminar, conference, or even rent out a room for meetings at any moment.  It will also increase the value for renting out the facilities for events, if we can included tables and chairs. 

Of course, we will need to keep the facilities clean and sanitary. We will need all of the cleaning supplies, such as brooms, mops, garbage cans, plungers and toilet brushes, floor dryers, etc.

THE BENEFITS :: Rwanda is a very clean country. All guests from other countries remark at how clean the streets are. All single use plastics are banned in Rwanda which helps to minimize waste. It is a source of communal pride for Rwandans and we will continue this dedication to sanitation at TLRwanda Conference Center. 

TLRwanda Conference Center is on the outer edge of town. It will be important to be able to provide meals for our guests, regardless if they are there for a meeting, private event or multi-day conference. In order to do this, we will need industrial appliances to store and cook the food. We are looking to purchase a refrigerator and freezer, an oven, meat processors, microwave, coffee machine, fryer and more.

THE BENEFITS :: Many of our guests will not have their own car. They will not have a quick way to get to town, nor the funds to eat out. It is customary to provide meals during the type of events that we would be offering. It gets expensive and significantly raises the cost of hosting a conference to have each meal catered by another company. Additionally, once the university opens, we will be offering a culinary degree as one of the vocational options. We will need a fully stocked kitchen in order to train students.

It can be hard to cook food without the proper kitchen tools and utensils. In addition to the appliances mentioned above, we will need all of the pots, pans, cookware, storage containers, etc in order to prepare meals. 

The ESTIMATED COST : $4000 USD

THE BENEFITS :: Many of our guests will not have their own car. They will not have a quick way to get to town, nor the funds to eat out. It is customary to provide meals during the type of events that we would be offering. It gets expensive and significantly raises the cost of hosting a conference to have each meal catered by another company. Additionally, once the university opens, we will be offering a culinary degree as one of the vocational options. We will need a fully stocked kitchen in order to train students.

We have a dining hall and an outdoor patio for dining and hosting events, such as a wedding. The proposed culinary degree will include training to cook for large groups and students will have the opportunity to intern in a work study catering service that will be offered to the public.  Round buffet tables and linens, chaffing dishes and plate warmers, all serving and tableware are included in the estimated cost below. 

The ESTIMATED COST : $33,400 USD

THE BENEFITS :: As mentioned, by suppling our own culinary needs it will reduce the cost of hiring an outside catering service for hosting our own conferences.  It will also generate income by allowing us to rent the facilities for meal based events, such as wedding receptions.  In the long term, we hope to offer our own catering services to the public as a feature of the culinary degree. 

With guest rooms for up to 60 people, and the tablecloths and linens for up to 100 people,  an industrial washer and dryer and irons will be useful.

THE BENEFITS :: Presentation is important at every event. We wish to keep our laundry services in house, rather than take them to another service. 

We have installed an underground water basin and a water tank. Now, we need water heaters for the showers, laundry and dishes.
